On 9 August, the Central Courtyard at the Conde Duque Cultural Centre will host a concert by Luisa Sobral, one of the most outstanding voices of the new generation of Portuguese artists, and by one of the most loved and respected artists of music made in Portugal, María Reis. An unforgettable evening as part of the programme of the Veranos de la Villa festival.
Luísa Sobral has left an indelible mark on music throughout her decade-long career. She is known for her musical skill and her talent for song writing. She has worked with artists of the likes of Ana Moura, her brother Salvador Sobral (for whom she composed the winning song in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Amar pelos dois) and the Italian singer, Tosca.
Since releasing her first LP, The Cherry On My Cake, up until her fourth album, Luísa, produced by the acclaimed Joe Henry, Sobral has displayed a unique combination of talent and daring collaborations. In her latest album, DanSando, she explores solar pop, presenting an intimate, personal and socially committed album.
In addition to Sobral, the evening will also include one of the most beloved and respected voice of Portuguese music, María Reis. Co-founder of the Cafetra Group and Publishing House, she started song-writing at an early age, especially with Pega Monstro, a band she formed with her sister Júlia Reis, when she was a teenager. Since taking a break in 2018, she has been working solo, displaying her assertive force and unique sensitivity.
