The prestigious Israeli choreographer will première an encounter between poetry and modern dance at the Conde Duque Cultural Centre in the Community of Madrid on 3, 4 and 5 April, which is the continuation of her piece, OCD Love.
Inspired by the poem, OCD Love by the American writer Neil Hilborn, Eyal has created a choreography that explores the complexities of love through the lens of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The piece, which went viral after it was presented at a poetic improvisation competition, has been acclaimed by specialised critics and the public alike. Drawing on his personal experience with OCD, Hilborn offers a raw and poignant vision of what love means whilst fighting compulsions and obsessions. Eyal and her company, L-E-V, have been able to translate these facts into dance.
On this occasion, six dancers will perform individually on stage, generating an overlap of choreographic styles. The group remains on stage at all times, but they are not particularly united, as each artist develops his/her own piece that provides a glimpse of his/her inner world. Furthermore, the performance includes live music by DJ Ori Lichtik in collaboration with Gai Behar, an Israeli composer who accompanies Sharon Eyal in all her productions.
Sharon Eyal is an Israeli choreographer and dancer renowned for her innovative work in the field of contemporary dance. She began her career at the famous Batsheva Dance Company, where she remained for almost two decades under the orders of Ohad Naharin, one of the most influential choreographers in Israel. In 2013, Eyal co-founded her own contemporary dance company, L-E-V, along with the renowned DJ and musical producer, Gai Behar. With L-E-V, Eyal has continued to bring her artistic vision to life, composing productions that deal with issues such as identity, intimacy and human connection through movement and electronic music.
