The 2024 edition of the Rio Babel Festival boasts a first-class prelude. The first edition of this musical event, which will be held at the Caja Mágica on 1 June, brings together performances by leading groups and artists, such as Green Day, The Hives, The Interrupters, Lagwagon and EMLAN, among others.
The Road to Río Babel event serves as a warm-up so that the wait for the Río Babel Festival is not so long. The popular American punk rock band, Green Day, heads the line-up of this multiple concert. Its new tour, called The Saviors Tour, is also a celebration of the 20th and 30th anniversary of American Idiot (2004) and Dookie (1994) respectively, the band's two most iconic albums. Made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, the band will present its fourteenth studio album, Saviors, which features the single The American Dream Is Killing Me. Other songs on this latest album are Look Ma, No Brains!, Suzie Chapstick, Dilemma or Goodnight Adeline.
The Swedish garage rock band The Hives, will also be present, performing songs from its latest album, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons. Made up of vocalist Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, guitarist and keyboard player, Nicholaus Arson, guitarist and organist Mikael Karlsson, drummer Christian Grahn and bass player, Johan Gustafsson, the group has won four Grammy Awards throughout its history.
The American ska punk band, The Interrupters, has been releasing ska-punk songs for more than a decade, adding melodic guitar and metal sounds. The group has toured with Bad Religion and Frank Turner, and has collaborated with Tim Armstrong of Rancid, Hepcat and Rhoda Dakar, emblem of 2-tone. In 2022, the group released its fourth LP, In the Wild, an album that can be heard at this concert.
The line-up of Road to Río Babel is rounded off with performances by the American punk rock band, Lagwagon; the singer from Catalonia, Arnau Moreno, known as EMLAN; the 30s40s50s group, which is made up of David Otero, Bely Basarte and Tato Loreen; and the English female heavy metal band, Maid of Ace.
