After more than four decades, motor racing's top competition is returning to Madrid. The city joins the Formula 1 international calendar by hosting the Spanish Grand Prix from 2026 to 2035, which will be held on the circuit designed at the IFEMA MADRID exhibition centre.
The ambitious Spanish Grand Prix, set to be the leader in the international calendar, is designed to captivate fans and teams alike. It will be held in Madrid from 2026 to 2035 inclusive, thanks to the agreement signed with Formula 1, creating an event that will combine sport and spectacle, making it a memorable experience.
The new circuit, subject to FIA homologation, will be 5.47 kilometres long, including 20 bends, and the cars are expected to reach an average speed of 213 km/h during the qualifying lap, which is expected to take 1 minute and 32 seconds. A state-of-the-art layout to offer thrilling moments and sections designed to impress fans and boost TV production.
The circuit will use IFEMA MADRID roads at the current site and future roads at Valdebebas, as well as 1.5km of public roads. The infrastructures will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and security, communication and air conditioning systems, raising the standards of the experience for drivers and spectators. Spaces that have never been seen before in the competition will be created, such as a covered and air-conditioned paddock and extensive areas for fan experiences.
This project will add new constructions to the site, such as buildings that will extend Pavilions 1 and 2 to house the more exclusive Paddock Club, among other infrastructures. Regarding capacity, it is estimated to start with 110,000 spectators, growing to over 140,000 in the fifth year.
It must be pointed out that Madrid will feature numerous F1-related activities and entertainment initiatives to coincide with the Grand Prix from 2026 onwards. Formula 1® racing began in 1950 and is the world's most prestigious motor racing competition and the most popular annual sporting series worldwide.
Subject to F1® Technical Regulations 2026 and FIA Homologation.
