The British artist, Birdy, and the Irish singer and songwriter, James Vincent McMorrow, will feature in the Botanical Garden at the Complutense University (Alfonso XIII Royal Botanical Garden) on 1 July as part of the Nights at the Botanical programme.
Birdy made her debut in 2015 with her album, Beautiful Lies. At the age of 12, she participated in the British talent show, Open Mic UK, and at the end of this competition, she signed up with Warner Bros Music UK. Along with Taylor Swift and Maroon 5, she contributed to the soundtrack of the film, The Hunger Games with the song, Just a Game. In 2023, she released Portraits, her fifth album which is reminiscent of Kate Bush, David Bowie and other pop stars from the 1980s.
The Irish singer and songwriter, James Vincent McMorrow became known in Spain thanks to Glacier, included in the advert for the Christmas lottery in 2014. His combination of styles, ranging from folk, indie to pop soon caught the attention of an audience that was eager to hear fresh, new songs.
His first album was Early in the Morning (2010). In Post Tropical (2014), he presented a more electronic touch. His sixth album, The Less I Knew (2022), is a return to his roots which attempts to make peace with him being a renowned musician and a quiet family man.
