The Russian soprano, Anna Netrebko, and the Azerbaijani tenor, Yusif Eyvazov, lead a recital that includes a selection of operas such as Turandot, La bohème, Manon Lescaut, Le Villi and Madama Butterfly on 5 September in the Main Hall at the Teatro Real.
Born in Krasnodar (Russia) in 1971, Anna Netrebko is a lyric singer who started out as a janitor at Saint Petersburg's Mariinsky Theatre (Russia). The orchestra conductor, Valery Gergiev took her on as his apprentice and she is now one of the best sopranos in the world. Her vocal timbre and flexibility enable her to perform Bel canto and romantic roles, so she has appeared in works like I Puritani by Bellini, The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, La Traviata by Verdi or L'elisir d'amore by Donizetti.
Yusif Eyvazov is a soloist born in Algeria in 1977, but raised in Baku (Azerbaijan). He has participated in productions, such as Tosca by Puccini, The Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky or Don Carlo by Verdi. He won the title of Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan in 2017 and Artist of the People of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018.
In 2017, Netrebko and Eyvazov teamed up for a duet album, Romanza, featuring songs by Russian composer Igor Krutoy. Also, Eyvazov collaborated with Netrebko in her albums Verismo and Puccini: Manon Lescaut, both launched in 2016, as well as in her latest album, Diva: The Very Best of Anna Netrebko, released in 2018.
