Activities of Madrid Convention Bureau in February

In February, Madrid hosted various national and international congresses, conferences and meetings associated with different fields and topics, including the 5th International Congress on Sport, Doping and Society; the Congress of the Spanish Society for Wounds (SEHER); the SAE International Teaching Open Day; the Mechanical Parts Roadshow organised by the BCN agency; and the Oxford Leadership Meeting.  The 4th International Ramón y Cajal Maxillofacial Surgery Symposium was also held, and Madrid Convention Bureau organised a welcome event for its guest speakers and experts.

With respect to work associated with organising events set to take place in the coming months, MCB provided assistance for the technical visit of the congress and logistics team of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), whose gathering is scheduled for November 2017. The professional congress is one of Europe’s largest and most important, drawing nearly 20,000 international delegates each year. According to the organisers, the Madrid edition is expected to draw much higher numbers this year.  In addition, the final phase was launched in the PCO selection process for the International EAPA Congress, which will take place in 2020 and is expected to attract 2,000 attendees.  On a related note, with a view to organising the International IFMAD Symposium to take place in the autumn, MCB provided assistance for the technical visit and for coordinating meetings with suppliers in Madrid. The event will draw over 250 attendees.

A five-day trip was also held for the purchasing department of Kenes International, a PCO headquartered in Tel Aviv, to familiarise them with the city of Madrid’s congress venues and over thirty hotels.

In February, MCB presented eight bids for European, international and Ibero-American congresses scheduled to be held between 2018 and 2020.

Finally, last month Madrid was confirmed as the venue for the 27th edition of the Virus Bulletin International Conference (400 attendees) and the World Football Summit (roughly 2,000 attendees) both of which will be held in October, as well as the 55th Franchise Distributor Meeting in September, the World Mediation Summit in June and an international pharmaceutical meeting in May, plus four international congresses which will be held between 2017 and 2020.
