The renowned French musician and composer, Yann Tiersen, one of the main exponents of minimalism, will be coming back to Madrid to present his latest show, Yann Tiersen: Solo Piano + Electronics. This latest tour of Europe and the United Kingdom, which will be coming to the Sala But on 22 October, is an intimate and personal journey focusing on the repertoires from his most recent albums.
Yann Tiersen has a long professional career spanning almost two decades, and is one of the most respected musicians of his generation. He has composed the soundtracks for renowned films, such as Amélie (2001), Goodbye Lenin! (2003) or Tabarly (2008), and he mainly plays the violin, piano and the accordion, with which he generates melodies influenced by street music, rock, waltz, French song or digital music.
He released his debut album in 1995, La Valse des Monstres, and has released more than a dozen studio albums, four live LPs and six soundtracks since then. In 2019, he released All, in which the musician delved into the sound of nature through instrumental pieces dotted with a multitude of nuances and instruments, as he did in his previous album, Eusa (2016).
In 2021, he released the album Kerber, which is a portrait of Ouessant, the small Breton island where he lives; followed by the album 11 5 18 2 5 18 in 2022, Kerber (Remixes) (2022) and Kerber (Solo Piano) (2023). On his latest tour, he presents Yann Tiersen: Solo Piano + Electronics which focuses his repertoire from the contemporary prism of these latter albums, entering an electronic world through the piano. These last four albums have been compiled in Kerber Complete, under the Mute record label.
This latest tour stands out for its logistical particularity as Yann Tiersen will travel between cities either on his sail boat, Ninnog, or in his campervan. The aim is to create personal connections on the way and meet people and visit places that would otherwise be impossible.
