As a prelude to Suma Flamenca, the largest flamenco contest in Madrid, from 12 to 15 September 2024, the fourth edition of this festival will be taking place in the Sala Verde auditorium of the Teatros del Canal, bringing together the best flamenco artists under the age of 30.
The fourth edition of Suma Flamenca Joven is a four-day festival, and each day will feature performances by a guitarist, a singer, and a dancer. The event showcases artists under the age of 30 as part of the Regional Government’s commitment to talented youngsters in Madrid.
In the first gala planned for 12 September, flamenco guitarist Manuel Herrera Hijos, from Seville, will be giving a recital, along with Rocío Luna, a singer from Córdoba , accompanied on guitar by Luis Medina and the rhythms of Emilio Castañeda and Antonio Amaya ‘El Petete’; and Manuel Jiménez, a dancer also from Córdoba, accompanied by the singer Ismael ‘El Bola’, Juan Manuel ‘El Tomate’ on guitar, and the rhythms of Manuel Lozano.
The second gala will feature performances by guitarist Antonio González; Morenito hijo, a singer from Cádiz accompanied on guitar by Ismael Rueda; and Lucía la Bronce, a dancer from Seville, performing alongside singers Manuel Pajeres and Inma la Carbonera, and guitarist Daniel Mejía ‘El Carqui’.
The third day of the festival, on 14 September, will include a concert by Cadiz-born guitarist Víctor Franco; Gabriela Giménez, a singer from Madrid accompanied on guitar by Antón Giménez; and Zaira Prudencio, a dancer from Badajoz, accompanied by singers Ismael El Bola and Francisco Blanco and guitarist Manolín García.
The last gala planned for 15 September will feature performances by El Poti de Granada (guitar recital); Tomás García, a singer from Granada accompanied by Pedro Barragán on guitar; and Barcelona-born dancer Patricia Donn accompanied by singers Eva Durán and Roberto Lorente, guitarist Israel Cerreduela, and José Montaña playing the cajón.
