Stories of Sport

From 23 September to 1 December, along the Paseo del Duque Fernán Núñez, located in El Retiro Park, National Geographic presents an exhibition that brings together a selection of photographs depicting the practice of various sporting disciplines around the world, from 1880 to the present day.

This public  exhibition presents a total of 82 iconic photographs taken by National Geographic photographers which portray not only sport as such, but also the stories of people striving and overcoming. These photographs cover various scenarios and show the cultural richness of the places where they were taken. 

They exemplify how sport, over time and anywhere in the world, is able to bring people together in a shared experience, while highlighting the unique contexts of each region. From basketball and football to climbing, diving, mountaineering and horse riding, this exhibition offers a look at traditional sports and less popular disciplines, including a selection of photographs of sports practised in Spain.
