The American tenor and the Polish lyrical tenor come together on stage to perform a selection of fragments of the Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Aida and Rusalka operas. This recital will be conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson and will include musical accompaniment by the Teatro Real Resident Orchestra.
Born in Berwyn (USA) in 1969, Sondra Radvanovsky is a singer known for her powerful and expressive voice, as well as her ability to perform a wide range of opera roles, especially Italian opera and bel canto.
She has performed on major stages around the world, including the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Royal Opera House in London. One of her best known roles is that of the heroines of operas by Giuseppe Verdi, such as Leonora in Il Trovatore and Aida in the opera of the same name. She has also received acclaim for her portrayals of characters in operas by composers such as Gaetano Donizetti and Giacomo Puccini. She won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions 1995 and the George London Foundation Competition 1997.
On the other hand, the tenor Piotr Beczala, active since 1997, studied at Katowice, perfecting his skills with Sena Jurinac and Pavel Lisitsian. Thanks to his studies, he went on to become a member of the Zurich Opera. Later, in 2004, he made his debut at Covent Garden in Der Rosenkavalier and in Fausto by Gounod. In November of the same year, he made his American debut in San Francisco as Lensky in Eugene Onegin and then at the Metropolitan Opera as the Duke of Rigoletto.
With an excellent career under his belt, he won the Munich Opera Festival in 2007 for his performance in Werther, Rigoletto and Der Rosenkavalier. In the same year, he also made his debut at the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the German Opera in Berlin and at the Frankfurt, Bilbao and Tokyo theatres.
