CNIO Art 2024. Dora García, End (Two Prologues)

Hall 31 at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum will host an exhibition from 17 June to 21 October in which the audiovisual piece, End (Two Prologues) can be seen. It has been created by Dora García, winner of the 2021 National Visual Arts Prize, based on her trip to the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic accompanied by David Nogués-Bravo, a macro-ecologist, researcher and professor at the Globe Institute in Copenhagen, all of which is under the theme of climate change and biodiversity loss. 

The film has come to the museum as an invited work and is presented alongside the American landscapes from the permanent collection whose creators were already aware in the 19th century that the virgin North American natural world was in the process of disappearing.

This film forms part of the CNIO Art project, an initiative by the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), with the support of the Banco Santander Foundation, which brings together leading international scientists and artists to explore the common ground between art and scientific research.  Its fundamental principle is that both science and art are creative activities essential to understanding the world.

The 2024 edition of CNIO Art focuses on climate change and how it affects the biodiversity.
