The production tells the story of Aladdin—a street urchin in the fictional city of Agrabah—, who is tricked by the Royal Vizier Jafar into retrieving a special oil lamp.
Thwarting Jafar’s efforts to cheat him, Aladdin keeps the lamp, only to rub it and meet the eccentric and powerful genie who lives in it. The Genie grants Aladdin three wishes. He uses his first wish to become a prince to woo Princess Jasmine, and promises to use his third wish to free the Genie from servitude. When Aladdin arrives in Agrabah as a prince, Jafar recognises him and threatens to reveal his true identity.
