The iconic group from the 1980s will be on stage to present its latest album, New Gold Dream. Live From Paisley Abbey (2023), live in a concert that will fill the Royal Botanical Garden with rock. The performance is part of the Nights at the Botanical, the festival which will bring together national and international stars to liven up the summer evenings and nights.
The group began its musical career in 1977 made a place for itself on the international market thanks to the single, Don’t You (Forget About Me), which went to Number 1 on the Billboard chart. Legendary songs, such as Alive and Kicking, Sanctify Yourself, Hypnotised or Belfast Child were also acclaimed by the public.
Furthermore, Simple Minds has more than 20 albums under its belt, whereby Sparkle in the Rain (1984), Once Upon a Time (1985), Live in the City of Light (1987), Ballad of the Streets (1989), Street Fighting Years (1989) and Glittering Prize (1992) reached Number One in the UK Charts.
The group is currently made up of Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, Cherisse Osei and Catherine AD along with Ged Grimes on the bass, the multi-instrumentalist, Gordy Goudie, and the singer, Sarah Brown. They have sold over 60 million albums, won numerous awards and 22 platinum discs. Their permanent search for new styles and their unquestionable contribution to modern music has given them a well-deserved place of honour among the most influential pop and rock musicians.
