The guitarist and major figure in contemporary music, Vicente Amigo, will be performing on 29 October in the Concha Velasco Sala Roja at Teatros del Canal as part of the latest edition of the Suma Flamenca festival. In this concert, the artist will première his latest show, Andenes del Tiempo, accompanied on stage by the guitarist Añil Fernández, Paquito González on percussion and Ewn Vernal on the electric bass guitar.
Andenes del Tiempo includes tracks from his ninth and latest album, of the same name, as well as other hits from his extensive musical career. His music originates from Andalusian and Spanish roots and becomes universal, with a way of transmitting it that few others are capable of doing.
Born in Guadalcanal, Seville, in 1967, Vicente Amigo aligned his destiny with the guitar from childhood and found a way to live. His musical career kicked off with the release of the albums: De mi corazón al aire (1991), Vivencias imaginadas (1995) or Poeta (1997), the latter with texts by Rafael Alberti. He reached the height of his fame in 2000 with Ciudad de las ideas, an album inspired by the poems of the Greek poet Constantin Cavafis, with which he won his first Grammy.
Other solo albums followed, such as Un momento en el sonido (2005), Paseo de Gracia (2009), Tierra (2013) or Memoria de los sentidos (2017), with which he won another Latin Grammy and he was nominated for an American Grammy.
Over the years, his music has always been open to the world and has constantly been revamped. He has worked with guitar greats, such as Paco de Lucía and Manolo Sanlúcar; with flamenco singers like Enrique Morente, Carmen Linares, Diego El Cigala, Miguel Poveda, El Pele, José Mercé or Estrella Morente; and with international stars like Sting, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola or Alejandro Sanz.
