From 10 to 15 May, Pradera de San Isidro welcomes a series of free music performances that are part of Madrid’s Fiestas de San Isidro with concerts for everyone’s tastes and all ages featuring bands and solo performers like Los Chunguitos, Belako and Kiko Veneno.
Fru Katinga opens the series on the 10th of May at 8:30 PM with a show that reinvents the current pop and r&B, new-wave, trap and dancehall. At 9:50 PM it is Miqui Brightside’s turn. He is a Madrid-based DJ presenting his latest LP, Panorama. At 11:00 PM, Brisa Fenoy performs accompanied by a DJ who gives more impact to her electro pop.
On the 11th of May at 6:30 PM, The Pinker Tones perform a family oriented concert with their Rolf & Flor en el Amazonas taking their audience on a journey to a deep and fun forest. At 7:45 PM, the Colectivo Panamera bring a fiesta full of cumbia, rumba and carnavalito. At 9:15 PM the Spanish band Looz present their fusion of pop, post-rock and ambient music. At 10:35 PM, Kid Simius premiers his record Planet of the simius in Madrid. And at midnight DJ David Ponziano takes over with the sounds of disco, house, deep, techno and acid.
On the 12th of May at 8:30 PM, Jorge Guillen puts on a show for the youngest audience: Strand, el violinista rebelde where the children discover the music brought to them by a violinist, five crazy musicians and an actor/painter. At 8 PM, the legendary band Los Chunguitos fills the area with their gypsy rumba. At 9:20 PM, the acclaimed Kiko Veneno shows off his latest album Sombrero roto. And at 10:35 PM, Baiuca creates a show where mixing Galician bagpipes with synthesizers, flutes and folk beats.
Then on the 13th of May at 8:30 PM, Eva Ryjlen, ex Idealipsticks frontwoman, debuts her solo career with Violencia posmoderna. At 9:40 PM, Vancouvers returns after 22 years with a collection of sounds that range from Californian flower-pop to alternative rock. At 11 PM, Belako take over with their best apocalyptic post-punk.
On the 14th of May at 6 PM, the show titled El rock & roll también es cosa de niños (Rock & Roll is Also for Kids), tells the story of the beginnings and evolution of rock and roll. At 7:10 PM, Ogun Afrobeat present their new show based on their latest album Koko Iroyin where they combine traditional African beats with funk, hip-hop and jazz.
At 8:25 PM, Belenciana performs their catchy dance tunes. At 9:25 PM, the La Bien Querida and their latest LP Fuego fills the stage with revolution featuring powerful Spanish indie. At 10:45 PM, Miqui Puig & ACP perform a concert where the ex Los Sencillos frontman gives his interpretation of some of their best songs. At 12:05 AM, DJ duo Elyella keeps the party gong with a session of remixes and dancefloor hits.
And finally on the 15th of May at 6:30 PM the collective 2princesesbarbudes performs Siempre vacaciones, a show about the life of swallows through 11 songs. At 7:55 PM, the Portuguese band Kumpania Algazarra boosts the party with the sounds from all over the world. At 9:25 PM, Tito Ramírez brings the best of The Kink of Mambo, an album full of soul and international r&b. And at 10:45 PM, Eskorzo closes the evening with Alerta canibal, an album that combines cumbia with Afro-Cuban music, rock and salsa.
