The choreographer and dancer from Malaga, Rocío Molina, will be performing on 30 October in the Concha Velasco Sala Roja at Teatros del Canal as part of the latest edition of the Suma Flamenca festival. The artist will present her latest show, accompanied on stage by the flamenco singer Pepe de Pura and Oruco clapping and dancing.
The iconoclastic choreographer and dancer, Rocío Molina, is considered to be one of the best flamenco dancers in Spain. Born in Malaga in 1984, she started learning to dance flamenco at the age of three and by the time she was 21, she presented her first production, Between Walls. Other shows by this dancer from Andalusia include Turquoise as a Lemon, Almario or When Stones Fly.
Her awards include the Outstanding Dancer Award at the 11th Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Competition, the Flamenco Critics Award for Revelation Dancer 2006, the National Dance Prize 2010 awarded by the Ministry of Culture in the performance category and the Max Awards 2017 for the Best Dance Performer and Best Choreography for Fallen from Heaven. More recently, she won the Silver Lion for Dance at the Venice Biennale 2022 and the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts 2022.
