Teatro de la Zarzuela is presenting a new production based on the Spanish lyrical piece composed by Emilio Arrieta. It is an opera in three acts conducted by José Miguel Pérez-Sierra and stage managed by Bárbara Lluch, which can be seen from 9 to 20 October with performances from Wednesday to Sunday.
In the port of Lloret de Mar, Marina, a young orphan, awaits the return of Captain Jorge, with whom she is in love despite having grown up as siblings. Jorge plans to propose to Marina once he arrives in port, but Pascual, a rough sailor beats him to it. Marina suggests that he should ask Jorge for her hand in marriage in an attempt to force him to reveal his feelings. Pascual does so and Jorge, who is absolutely crushed by the news, agrees to their marriage.
This story of secret love on the seashore will be performed by a cast led by the soprano Marina Sabina Puértolas, and the lyrical tenors Ismael Jordi and Rubén Amoretti, among others.
