As part of the Madrid en Danza Festival 2024, the Stephanie Lake Company will première a show in Spain on 24, 25 and 26 May in the Green Hall (Sala Verde) at Teatros del Canal, which is not to be missed by fans of contemporary dance, percussion and innovative artistic experiences.
The acclaimed Australian choreographer, Stephanie Lake surprises the audience yet again with this creation, an explosive fusion of dance and percussion that was successfully presented at the Melbourne Festival in 2023.
In this performance, nine dancers and nine drummers mingle in a whirlwind of energy on stage to generate a unique sensory action that is capable of captivating the spectator from the very first moment. Synchronising the choreography of the performers with the rhythms of the drums, the show explores the symbiosis between dance and the sound of the percussion, two forms of artistic expression that have been united since ancient times.
With all this, the piece immerses the audience on a journey through human endeavour. The rhythms intensify, the movements become more complex and the force expands in an electrifying crescendo. It is not a mere superimposition of elements, but an organic interaction in which each one complements and enhances the other.
Stephanie Lake Company is a modern dance company based in Melbourne (Australia). It is known for its daring and original choreographic style and striking visual aesthetics.
