Eva Lootz. Doing as one says: And what’s this?

The Sabatini Building at the Reina Sofía Museum will host an exhibition from 28 May to 2 September offering a panoramic journey through the work of Eva Lootz, a leading artist on the Spanish art scene since the transition.  Lootz’s coherence and constant exploration of the spaces between the visible and the decipherable stand out in the exhibition.

This exhibition, organised by the Reina Sofía Museum and curated and coordinated by Fernando López, delves into the artistic career of Eva Lootz (Vienna, 1940) from her first experiences with the Abakuá myth. The exhibition will also include a series of her large-format black and white prints, which explore pressing issues from this decade, such as censorship, violence, intolerance, exclusion, inequalities, control mechanisms and power structures.

On this occasion, the artist’s work will be on display in the Sabatini Building, a space that will highlight the monumentality and geometric simplicity of her art. The large-format pieces will be made of materials such as marble, silk, gold leaf and glass.

The exhibition enables visitors to immerse themselves in Eva Lootz's creative universe, exploring her conceptual approach and her ability to establish dialogues between different artistic languages. It will undoubtedly be a necessary and logical tribute to a leading artist on the Spanish art scene.
